Spend the day in Tokyo. Visit the Imperial Palace grounds and Nijubashi Bridge and Tokyo Tower’s main deck for a 360-degree panoramic view from the observatory. Next, visit Senso-Ji Temple and Nakamise Shopping Street. Senso-Ji, the bright red Kaminarimon Gate and stroll the bustling street known as 'Nakamise'. Enjoy a classic Japanese-style theatre where Kabuki is performed and free time in the afternoon.
Today take a full-day excursion to Nikko by train. Visit Kanmangafuchi Abyss and Nikko Toshogu Shrine. Enjoy seeing the traditional beauty of the main hall, as well as the sleeping cat and monkey carvings. Have a Japanese-style lunch.
Depart from Tokyo by bus for Fuji Hakone-Izu National Park and stop at Mt. Fuji where you will drive half way up the mountain for a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Take a cruise on the beautiful Lake Ashi followed by a scenic ride on the Mt. Komagatake Ropeway. Arrive at your hotel in Hakone in the evening, where you will stay overnight.
Take the bullet train to Kyoto and set out to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, the Sanjusangendo Temple and finally, proceed to the hilltop temple Kiyomizudera and admire the views of Kyoto from its wooden veranda. You might also want to catch a few drops of the Otowa waterfall which flows underneath the main hall, known to grant wishes to those who drink it. Spend the night in Kyoto.
Take a full day tour to explore some of Kyoto and Nara's most famous sites. Visit Nijo Castle, continue to Kinkakuji Temple (famous for its Golden Pavilion). Afterwards, visit Kyoto's Imperial Palace and travel by bus to Nara, the first permanent capital of Japan. Visit the ancient Todaiji Temple and its massive Great Buddha, see the colorful Kasuga Taisha Shrine with 3,000 lanterns. Also visit Nara Park, affectionately called "Deer Park" because of the friendly, free-roaming deer that inhabit it. Stay overnight in Kyoto
Leave Kyoto this morning and travel to Hiroshima by train. Take a ferry over to beautiful Miyajima Island and visit the Itsukushima Jinja Shrine. Here, you will have the opportunity to take in one of the three most renowned views in Japan. Break for lunch, enjoy leisure time and then continue on to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum. See the Atomic Bomb Dome, a sobering reminder of World War II and an inspiring symbol of peace. Take the train back to Kyoto and stay overnight.
Spend the day on your own, exploring Kyoto at your leisure.
Depart your hotel for the airport to fly home.
